Fred Lowenfels with an early season brown that took a size 6 yellow stone.
Full and half day trips are offered as well as shorter evening trips to the Housatonic River, Farmington River, and several smaller streams. Anglers can choose to wade or float via drift boat. Depending on flows, we will either float in a Clackacraft drift boat or Aire Super Puma raft with fishing frame. We will supply all the equipment, flies and a delicious lunch. Let us know your preferences in terms of what you would like to eat and drink.
There are never more than three anglers per guide on walk/wade trips and one or two anglers on float trips. We work closely with other experienced guides to accommodate for group outings and when Rob is unavailable. Because we fish on the river year round, we are intimate with the rivers hatches, water flows and exactly where that trophy brown is lurking, ready to inhale your well presented dry fly. This knowledge gives us the ability to find the best possible fishing given current conditions. Between the Housatonic and the Farmington there is almost always productive fishing. These two rivers are very different and play off one another very nicely.
Whether you are picking up a fly rod for the first time or are a seasoned veteran, emphasis will be spent on your particular interests.
Rob Nicholas, certified casting instructor, has been guiding on the Housatonic since 1993 and has been guided by some of the worlds best, in places like New Zealand, Argentina, Chile, The Keys, and the American West. Rob will share with you his knowledge and experience in the wonderful world of fly fishing and emphasis will be spent on your particular interests.
